Belgium during pandemic
In march the world as we know it had stopped due to the covid pandemic. Regardless of what you think about the pandemic (real or fake) one thing is certain. Nothing will be as it was before march 2020. Remote office will become the standard, people will subconsciously limit their social contact and strict sanitary regimes are here to stay for long.
Few weeks ago in my region it became obligatory to wear a face mask in public places. So basically everything outside my own garden qualifies. So I decided to go the the capital of the region to see what it looks like. Are people following the regime or not? It turns out they actually do…
I must admit, it looks really weird. All those people wering face masks. A bit scary even. People are waiting in lines while maintaining their social distance, no one seems to be arguing with the system. Even children and elderly had their faces covered. Spooky.
I knew I would encounter many people wearing face masks but the impression it made on me was a bit overwhelming. I must admit I felt unease just by walking around the city.
I really hope this thing will end soon and we can go back to normal lives, where I can shake hand as a welcome gesture instead of doing an “elbow”.
Stay safe and follow the recommendations of the WHO.
